Research: Shipin’s research focuses on the structure-property relationship of metals.  He performs mechanical tests at the micro and macroscale, as well as finite element representative volume element (FE-RVE) simulations in which the mechanics of the individual phases are described by either continuum methods or crystal plasticity methods.
