Polymer Directed Assembly of Nanoparticles
Ligand-directed assembly of inorganic nanoparticles into hierarchical structures
Precise control over nanoparticle arrangement is crucial to obtain desirable physical properties. Here, a series of structure-directing ligands, block polymers, semicrystalline polymers, and bottlebrush polymers will be attached to the nanocrystal surface. The ligands will drive the system to arrange into various structures, thus directing nanocrystal organization and resulting in emergent properties. One property in particular we are exploring is generation of color by photonic crystals.
